Radon is a natural gas that comes from the ground. Radon is colorless, odorless and tasteless and can not be determined through a visual inspection. Elevated levels of radon gas have been proven to be hazardous to your health. Because it comes from the ground we usually find it trapped in the basement of a home. A laboratory test must be performed to determine its presence. We at Roots Home Inspection are fully Licensed to test for Radon.
New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Check your city’s radon potential.
Radon Potential of Your Town
Radon levels can be decreased through installation of a ventilation system. New Jersey standards state that radon levels should be under 4.0 pic/l to not be considered hazardous.
For all New Jersey home inspections with a basement we recommend a radon test. This testing will be completed during your inspection. When you or your client arranges an inspection with us we can inspect the home/building, radon and termite.
Check the EPA map of potential radon concentrations in New Jersey – This site is an excellent source of radon information. |
